Hotel Prices on the Rise in 2019

According to the Hotel Monitor 2019, published by American Express Global Business Travel, overall hotel prices are rising for 2019. The report attributes rate increases to the global supply of hotel rooms lacking behind demand. Also according to the report, uncertainty in the global economy, security concerns, Brexit and the potential for changes in the NAFTA agreement are having an impact on travel demand worldwide. Sojern Data Shows Desktop Travel Search Remains Dominant

Despite the global saturation of mobile devices, Sojern’s latest Global Travel Insights report has found that only 28 percent of travel searches in the U.S. came from mobile last quarter. 72 percent of North American travel searches were made from desktop during Q2. The report explains the desktop dominance as consumers preferring the comparison shopping experience on their computers over their mobile phones. J.D. Power Reports Higher Guest Satisfaction Across Hotel Segments

The hospitality industry increased its overall guest satisfaction rating, across the board, to its highest level ever, according to the results of the recently published J.D. Power 2018 North America Hotel Guest Satisfaction Index. Hotels at all price levels raised the industry-wide rating by eight points to 825 on a scale of 1000 points. The study, which has been conducted for 22 years, gives hoteliers insights into focusing and clarifying their product and service improvement efforts. Full Story Here:


STR: US hotel results for week ending 21 July

Positive performance figures were posted by the U.S. hotel industry for the week of 15-21 July 2018. According to published data from STR, industry-wide occupancy rose by +0.4 percent to 78.3 percent compared to the same period last year. Average daily rate went up by +2.6 percent to reach $135.18 by the end of the week. Revenue per available room climbed +3.0 percent higher to finish out the week at $105.83. Full Story Here:
